Arkansas Tech University will move forward with conducting its 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. spring 2021 commencement ceremonies at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field as scheduled on Saturday, May 8.
The university worked overnight and through the morning to correct technical difficulties with the public address system at its football stadium created by storms on Friday evening.
Those issues forced ATU to move its 9 a.m. Saturday commencement ceremony to Tucker Coliseum. The technical difficulties have been corrected such that the 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. ceremonies can take place at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field.
“We are grateful to our Saturday morning graduates and their families for their patience and understanding as we worked to overcome these issues,” said ATU President Dr. Robin E. Bowen. “It is a weekend for celebrating our graduates, and our university community pulled together through adverse circumstances on Friday evening and Saturday morning to ensure that celebration took place. We look forward to a joyous Saturday afternoon and evening with our graduates and their families at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field.”
The 1 p.m. Saturday commencement will feature graduates from the College of Arts and Humanities and the College of Business.
The final commencement ceremony of the weekend will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday. It will include graduates from the College of Education and the Graduate College.
