Arkansas Tech advanced three spots to No. 13 in this week’s USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division II top 25 women’s basketball poll, which was released by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association on Tuesday afternoon.
The Golden Suns (14-0) made the move forward in the national poll after defeating Southern Arkansas 75-52 in their Gulf South Conference opener on Saturday.

It is the highest national ranking for Tech’s women since Nov. 25, 2008, when they were ranked 12th in the country.
This year’s Golden Suns have matched the best start to a season in the 33-year history of intercollegiate women’s basketball at Arkansas Tech. The only other Golden Suns team to start 14-0 was the 1979-80 squad, which went on to finish 29-2.
Arkansas Tech will try for its best start ever to a women’s basketball season when the Golden Suns host Henderson State at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Admission to Tucker Coliseum will be free with a valid Tech identification card.
