Arkansas Tech will enter the postseason ranked No. 6 in the USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division II women’s basketball top 25 poll.
The Golden Suns (25-2) moved up one spot to sixth in the country when this week’s poll was released by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association on Tuesday.
Arkansas Tech closed out the regular season with a pair of wins last week. The Suns defeated Arkansas-Monticello 67-55 on Thursday, Feb. 25, and Christian Brothers 81-59 on Saturday, Feb. 27.
The victory over CBU allowed Tech to clinch a share of its first Gulf South Conference West Division women’s basketball title since 2003.
It is the Golden Suns’ 20th regular season conference title and their seventh GSC West crown since joining the league in 1995-96.
Arkansas Tech, the No. 1 seed from the GSC West Division, will take on West Florida (14-13) in the first round of the GSC Tournament on Thursday.
Tip-off is set for 2:45 p.m. at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Miss.
