Arkansas Tech graduate Robert Nelson was inducted into the Mountain Home Education Foundation Hall of Honors. The group recognizes those who have made an impact in education.
Nelson graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1960, and he earned a music degree at Arkansas Tech. He served as band director in Mountain Home for 35 years until he retired in 2002.
He has been president of the Arkansas School Band & Orchestra Association, the Arkansas Bandmasters’ Association, the Arkansas chapter of Phi Beta Mu and the Baxter County Retired Teachers’ Association.
He is currently president of the Mountain Home School Board and sits on the board of the Mountain Home Education Foundation.
Nelson was one of five selected this year for the honor.
