Students in the emergency management program at Arkansas Tech University recently assisted the University of Central Arkansas in their effort to conduct a full-scale active shooter exercise.
The exercise was designed to help campus officials prepare in the event of a shooter on the campus.
Arkansas Tech graduate student Denny Foulk (photographed) worked with UCA to coordinate and oversee the exercise.
Ed Leachman, interim head of the Arkansas Tech Department of Emergency Management, says Foulk worked to develop the planning materials “necessary to prepare for, conduct and assess results from the exercise.”
In addition to Foulk, about 20 Arkansas Tech students volunteered throughout the exercise to perform various supporting duties. Following the exercise, the students who volunteered each received a certificate of appreciation from the UCA Director of Public Safety.
