Three members of the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns softball team were named to the 2010 All-Gulf South Conference West Division softball team when it was announced by the league office in Birmingham, Ala., on Wednesday.
Tiphani Moon, a junior first baseman from Euless, Texas, and Roxie Palacios, a senior catcher from Crosby, Texas, were both named to the All-GSC West team for a third consecutive year.
Junior middle infielder Shanda Jimeson of Mansfield, Texas, collected all-conference honors for a second straight year.
The Golden Suns were 22-26 overall and 12-18 in GSC play during the 2010 season.
Moon (photographed, top right) had a batting average of .329 in 2010. She led the team in home runs (11) and runs batted in (34). Moon’s 11 home runs broke the single-season school record of 10 round-trippers that she set in 2009.
Palacios (photographed, middle right) hit .278 with a home run and 16 RBIs during her final season in the green and gold.
Jimeson (photographed, bottom right) was a .209 hitter this season with 10 RBIs.
Moon, Palacios and Jimeson started every game for the Golden Suns in 2010.
Arkansas Tech’s softball program is led by head coach Gidget Pambianchi, who has guided the Golden Suns to two GSC West Division titles and 139 wins in her first five years on the job.
