Techange, a new program designed to show incoming freshmen the value of supporting Arkansas Tech, will debut on campus this fall.
Tech freshmen will receive a coin bank and information sheet upon arrival in their residence halls this weekend.
Students will be asked to put their spare change in their coin banks, and the Arkansas Tech Development Office will organize a monthly “round-up” to collect the funds.
The money raised will go toward merit-based scholarships for returning Tech students beginning in fall 2011. Applications for the scholarships will be available at www.atu.edu/givetotech.
Application deadline for the scholarships will be March 15, 2011.
“From this simple act of donating their spare change, we hope that students understand that a little bit of change goes a long way in helping others,” said Alison Parks, coordinator of young alumni at Arkansas Tech. “Giving to your university does not always have to be large monetary donations. Smaller contributions add up quickly.”
Parks and Kristin Smith, director of the Tech Loyalty Fund, are photographed here preparing the coin banks for distribution to the residence halls.
