Flu shots are now available to faculty and staff in the Arkansas Tech Health and Wellness Center.
Interested faculty and staff members must first pay a $10 charge at the student accounts office inside the Doc Bryan Student Services Building before making their appointments.
Employees wishing to receive an injection need to make an appointment by calling the Health and Wellness Center at 479-968-0329. The Arkansas Tech Health and Wellness Center is located in Dean Hall 126.
Additionally, Nurse Rita Woolf will be at the Baswell Techionery Wednesday, October 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. administering injections. As with making an appointment, the flu shot is free to students and $10 for faculty and staff.
Flu shots were first available to students only for the past two weeks. Students are still able to make an appointment to receive a free injection.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates each year in the United States 5% to 20% of the population gets the flu, and the CDC says a flu shot is one of the best ways to protect against the flu. Read additional CDC suggestions to protect against the flu.
According to the CDC, the “flu vaccine protects against the three main flu strains that research indicates will cause the most illness during the flu season,” and this year’s flu vaccine protects against three new strains of the flu.
