Spirit signs will be placed at Centennial Plaza this afternoon, as student organizations make final touches to the detail and structure of their board.
The spirit signs provided students with a new opportunity to showcase their artistic expression of school spirit by decorating a sheet of plywood.
The Student Government Association is offering the sign competition in place of the previously offered canvas painting competition. The purpose of student organizations making a sign is to paint a mural of what they think represents the theme, which is “Building on Tradition, Ringing in the Future.”
The four by eight sheets of plywood will be judged after 5 p.m. and will remain on display throughout Homecoming festivities.
Student organizations are reminded the signs must be in place between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. today. Students are responsible for providing tent stakes and rope to secure the structure of the sign.
SGA provided students with one 4 by 8 sheet of plywood, two 2 by 4 by 12 boards, along with two hinges. This is the first year for the sign competition at Arkansas Tech.
