The Golden Suns trailed by 11 points with just over four minutes remaining before closing the game on a 17-0 run. With the win, Arkansas Tech remained in second place in the Great American Conference women’s basketball standings, just one-half game behind front-running East Central University. The Golden Suns defeated Northwestern Oklahoma State 73-62 on Jan. 3 at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville. The Suns are 4-0 all-time against the Rangers. Today will mark their first-ever visit to Alva. About the Rangers: Northwestern Oklahoma State suffered a 74-55 home loss to Harding University on Thursday. Dierra Gilmore scored a career-high 21 points in a losing effort. It was the fifth loss for the Rangers in their last six games. NWOSU is 3-3 in home GAC games this season. Senior center Will Paul led the Wonder Boys that evening with 24 points, but he has not played since Jan. 17 because of a foot injury. Arkansas Tech and NWOSU enter today’s game tied for second place in the Great American Conference men’s basketball standings. They are both two games behind league-leading Harding University with seven regular season conference games remaining. The Wonder Boys are 1-1 all-time against Northwestern Oklahoma State. The Rangers defeated Arkansas Tech 89-79 in a neutral-site game at Lawton, Okla., on Nov. 27, 1971, in their only previous meeting before this season.
