Game One: Tech 7, HSU 3 Sage Boehner’s two-run triple in the top of the seventh inning propelled Arkansas Tech to a 7-3 victory over Henderson State in game one on Saturday. Boehner drove in James Sharp and Brian O’Bannon with his three-base hit down the right field line. The Wonder Boys took a 5-3 lead at that point. Patrick Castleberry added an RBI single later in the seventh inning and Zac Johnson scored on a wild pitch in the eighth inning to set what proved to be the final margin. Trent Armstrong (6-0) pitched six scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. Armstrong struck out three batters and allowed two hits. Chance Scamardo and Kris Ayers had two base hits apiece for Arkansas Tech. Game Two: Tech 4, HSU 2 Five different Arkansas Tech hitters had two base hits apiece as the Wonder Boys completed a series sweep of Henderson State with a 4-2 victory in the second half of Saturday’s twin bill. Boehner, Ayers, Zac Johnson, Jay Johnson and Keenan Jumper were the five Arkansas Tech batsmen with multiple hits in the nightcap. Boehner drove in two runs. Jay Johnson and Jumper both had one RBI. Arkansas Tech starting pitcher Mason Reynolds (6-0) allowed two runs on four hits over five innings. Jake Bell pitched a scoreless sixth inning and Randy Vallejo retired the Reddies in order in the seventh and final inning. Vallejo added to his school record for single-season saves with his 12th save of 2014.]]>
