Arkansas Tech University is ranked in the American Football Coaches Association NCAA Division II top 25 for the first time in almost six years.
The Wonder Boys (5-1) are No. 24 in the AFCA rankings released on Monday, Oct. 12. It is the first time Arkansas Tech has been included in the AFCA top 25 since the final poll of the 2009 season.
Tech gained the attention of voters with a 30-12 win over then nationally 20th-ranked Ouachita Baptist University on Saturday.
With five wins in their first six games, the Wonder Boys are off to their best start to a football season since 2005. That Arkansas Tech team also started 5-1.
The Wonder Boys are tied with Henderson State University for first place in the Great American Conference standings. The Reddies (5-1) are No. 19 in this week’s AFCA top 25.
Arkansas Tech will face East Central University (4-2) for a 2 p.m. GAC contest in Ada, Okla., on Saturday, Oct. 17. Radio station KCJC 102.3 FM and www.arkansastechsports.com will have live play-by-play coverage.
