Arkansas Tech University’s stretch of three consecutive Great American Conference basketball doubleheaders away from home will reach its conclusion on Thursday, Jan. 14, when it takes on Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia.
The Golden Suns and the Wonder Boys will return home to host Southern Arkansas University for 1 and 3 p.m. GAC contests at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Saturday, Jan. 16.
Tickets for Saturday’s games ($5 adults, $3 students and senior citizens) will be available at the door. Those with a valid Arkansas Tech identification card will be admitted free of charge.

About the Golden Suns: Arkansas Tech is in sole possession of first place in the GAC women’s basketball standings, one game in front of Harding University (7-3, 5-1) and Henderson State University (6-6, 5-1). The Golden Suns are led in scoring by senior forward Fatima Adams (19.8 points per game) and junior guard Anissa Pounds (11.1 points per game). Arkansas Tech has won its last three women’s basketball meetings with Ouachita Baptist, and the Golden Suns are 16-2 against the Lady Tigers since February 2007.
About the Lady Tigers: Ouachita Baptist saw its two-game winning streak end with an 81-57 setback against Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Saturday. The Lady Tigers are 4-2 at Vining Arena this season. Junior post Katie Kapler (14.8 points per game), senior forward Breanna Harris (12.5 points per game) and sophomore post Kori Bullard (10.2 points per game) are Ouachita’s leading scorers.

About the Wonder Boys: Junior guard Marquis Yates (17.0 points per game) leads Arkansas Tech and ranks fourth in the GAC in scoring. He has reached double figures in scoring seven consecutive games, and he averaged 24 points per game during the Wonder Boys’ two-game road trip to Oklahoma last week. Arkansas Tech, Ouachita Baptist, Southwestern Oklahoma State University and East Central University are tied for second place in the GAC men’s basketball standings, one game behind front-running Harding University (6-5, 5-1).
About the Tigers: Ouachita Baptist is the defending GAC regular season champion. The Tigers were 20-6 overall and 16-4 in league play in 2014-15. Senior forward Tirrell Brown was the GAC player of the year last season. So far this year, he is averaging 13.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Ouachita swept Arkansas Tech last season, defeating the Wonder Boys 64-57 in Russellville and 71-57 in Arkadelphia. The Tigers are 3-1 in home games against Arkansas Tech during the GAC era.
