Robotics Championship at Tech Saturday

More than 50 teams consisting of elementary, middle and high school students will be at Arkansas Tech University on Saturday, March 5, for the 2016 VEX Robotics state championship.

The Arkansas Tech STEM Institute coordinates the competition on a local level.

The contest is part of an international series of competitions that engage more than 12,000 teams from more than 30 countries in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The Robotics Education and Competition Foundation is the presenting sponsor for Saturday’s event at Arkansas Tech.

“The REC Foundation recognizes that successfully preparing our children for the future global economy will require a strong foundation in STEM education,” said Jason Morrella, president of the REC Foundation. “Robotics engineering programs naturally engage and inspire students to pursue STEM subjects and careers and we are committed to providing students access to exciting and challenging competition experience, like the VEX IQ Challenge and the VEX Robotics Competition, to accommodate their growing interest.”
