Arkansas Tech University has announced the Go Bold Welcome Week schedule for the 2016-17 academic year.
The week of activities is designed to engage, inform and entertain incoming and returning students.
Students are encouraged to share their Welcome Week experiences using the hashtag #atuwelcome.

Saturday, Aug. 20
Residence Hall New Student Move-In
- 7:00, 8:00, 9:30 or 11:00 a.m., Residence Halls
- Review your assignment notification for assigned time
Orientation Check-In/Parent and Family Check-In
- 8 a.m.-2 p.m., W.O. Young Ballroom
- New students will receive orientation information
- Parents and family members will learn about services offered by the Office of Student Success
Lunch
- 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m., Chambers Cafeteria
- Family lunch special is $6.25 per person
- Students with a meal plan may use swipes
Last Minute Goodbyes
- 3 p.m., Residence Halls
Mandatory Floor Meetings
- 3:30-5 p.m., Residence Halls
- Students learn about building and role in residence halls
Dinner
- 5-7 p.m., Chambers Cafeteria
Building Social
- 7-7:45 p.m., Residence Halls
- Dessert will be served in the lobby or courtyard of each hall for new students, residence life staff members and orientation leaders.
Playfair
- 8 p.m., Tucker Coliseum
- Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to meet new friends at this energetic event
Tech the Night Away
- 9:30 p.m.-Midnight, Tucker Coliseum / Doc Bryan parking lots
- Funnel cakes, roasted corn, fried Oreos, a photo booth and inflatable games
Sunday, Aug. 21
Battle of the Halls: Clash of the Colors
- 1-3 p.m., Hindsman Tower
- Compete to prove your residence hall is the best
- Winning hall gets front row seats to the hypnotist
Dinner
- 5-7 p.m., Chambers Cafeteria

Hypnotist
- 8 and 10 p.m., Witherspoon Auditorium
- Spidey, master hypnotist, will entertain and call up participants from audience

Involvement Fair

T-Shirt Trade

- Trade a gently worn shirt from a high school or another university for a Tech T-shirt
- Shirts may be purchased for $1
- All clothing and funds are donated to a local charity

RSO Event Night

- Learn more about how to join and be active in registered student organizations
Watermelon Fest
- 8-10 p.m., Campus Recreation Fields
- Highlights include the fifth annual seed spitting competition, along with flag football, disc golf and more
Thursday, Aug. 25
Meet the Greeks

- Learn about fraternities and sororities at Arkansas Tech
Friday, Aug. 26
Tech IN Kickoff Event
- 5-8 p.m., Doc Bryan Courtyard
- Learn more about diversity and inclusion at Arkansas Tech during event filled with food, fellowship, dancing and prizes
Black Light Party

- First 500 students will get a free T-shirt

Day at the Lake

- Swimming, sand volleyball and food available
