Arkansas Tech University is ranked tied for 25th in the 2016-17 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division II preseason top 25 poll, which was released on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
The Golden Suns completed the 2015-16 season with an overall record of 27-4. They were regular season and postseason champions of the Great American Conference, and Tech advanced to the second round of the 2016 NCAA Division II Tournament.
Top returnees for Arkansas Tech include seniors Anissa Pounds (11.9 points per game in 2015-16), Calli White (8.5 points per game in 2015-16), Danielle Frachiseur (7.2 points per game in 2015-16) and Kelsey McClure (5.7 points per game in 2015-16).
Fellow senior Katrina Hayden (9.8 points per game in 2014-15) returns to the active roster after missing the 2015-16 season due to injury.
The Golden Suns will host Dallas Diesel for an exhibition game at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Sunday, Nov. 6. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Arkansas Tech will begin its 2016-17 women’s basketball regular season by hosting Lane College for a 1 p.m. non-conference game at Tucker Coliseum on Saturday, Nov. 12.
