Arkansas Tech University received two first-place votes and a total of 95 points to earn the No. 3 spot in the 2017 Great American Conference volleyball preseason poll.
Harding University is the preseason favorite to win the GAC volleyball crown. The Lady Bisons received seven first-place votes and 113 points, while Ouachita Baptist University is picked second after it received three first-place votes and 105 points. HU and OBU shared the GAC regular season title in 2016.
Oklahoma Baptist University (4th, 90 points), defending GAC Tournament champion Southern Nazarene University (5th, 77 points) and Southwestern Oklahoma State University (6th, 74 points) complete the top half of the poll.
Southeastern Oklahoma State University (7th, 62 points), the University of Arkansas-Monticello (8th, 56 points), Henderson State University (9th, 45 points), Northwestern Oklahoma State University (10th, 30 points), Southern Arkansas University (11th, 25 points) and East Central University (12th, 20 points) fill out the remaining spots.
The Golden Suns will begin their 2017 season by competing in the Washburn University Capital Plaza Invitational Sept. 1-2.
