Amy Pennington, dean of students at Arkansas Tech University, has been appointed to a two-year term on the associate vice president steering committee for national professional organization NASPA, Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education.
According to NASPA, the purpose of the organization’s associate vice president steering committee is to encourage “professional development, knowledge creation and sharing, networking opportunities and recognition aimed at the unique role of AVPs.”
The steering committee is comprised of 15 associate vice presidents who serve at a wide variety of institutional types throughout NASPA’s seven regions. Committee members are appointed by the NASPA president and serve staggered two-year terms.
Pennington has served as dean of students at ATU since 2011. She previously served as director of international and multicultural student services from 2003-11, director of housing programs in the Office of Residence Life from 2000-03 and student recruitment and publicity specialist in the Office of Admissions from 1997-2000.
A 1997 graduate of Arkansas Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, Pennington earned a Master of Education degree in higher education administration from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 2003.
