Arkansas Tech University’s Paty Loredo won the first Great American Conference softball freshman of the week award of the 2018 season on Monday, Feb. 5.
Loredo went 7-for-14 with a home run, eight runs batted in and two runs scored while helping the Golden Suns post a 3-1 record at the season-opening Southeastern Regional Invitational in Durant, Okla., last weekend.
A second baseman from Fort Worth, Texas, Loredo committed zero errors in 14 chances and was a part of turning three double plays during Tech’s four games in Durant.
The Golden Suns will return to action on Thursday, Feb. 8, and Friday, Feb. 9, at the UAM D-2 Softball Challenge in Bentonville.
