The Arkansas Tech University Department of Music will host a concert entitled the “St. Paddy’s Day Swing” featuring the ATU Jazz Ensemble and the Russellville High School Jazz Band on Thursday, March 15.
The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Witherspoon Auditorium. Admission will be free and open to the public.
Conductor Dr. Sean Reed will lead the ATU Jazz Ensemble through performances of “As a Whole Blues” by Carol Morgan, “Doxy” and “St. Thomas” by Sonny Rollins, “In Her Family” by Pat Metheny and “The Groovemaster” by Bob Mitzer.
The RHS Jazz Band will play “Vehicle” by James M. Peterik, “Jumpin’ East of Java” by Brian Setzer, “Chameleon” by Herbie Hancock and “I Can’t Stop Loving You” by Don Gibson. David Gaston is conductor for the RHS Jazz Band.
The groups will close the show with a joint performance of “Mudbug Strut” by Paul Baker.
