Two Arkansas Tech University students received agriculture scholarships during a ceremony with Gov. Asa Hutchinson at the State Capitol in Little Rock on Friday, April 13.
ATU’s Brady McPherson, an agriculture business major with an emphasis in horticulture from Piggott, and Gaby Sanders, an agricultural education major from Livingston, Texas, were among nine college students in Arkansas who shared $20,000 in scholarships from the Arkansas Agriculture Department (AAD).
According to a news release from the AAD, funds for the scholarships are generated through civil penalties collected by the Arkansas Agriculture Department’s State Plant Board.
“Agriculture is Arkansas’s largest industry and we are delighted that each of you has chosen an agriculture focus for your future,” said Hutchinson. “We hope that each of you will stay in Arkansas and continue contributing to our state’s agriculture industry as you build your careers and families.”
