Faculty, staff and students at Arkansas Tech University are invited to attend a civilian response to active shooter informational session during the month of September.
Two identical sessions will be offered, one on Monday, Sept. 10, at 10 a.m. and the other at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11. Both will take place in the Doc Bryan Student Services Center Lecture Hall.
Scheduled speakers include Joshua McMillian, associate dean and chief of public safety, and Heath Whorton, university emergency manager.
Psychology of disaster response, active shooter events by the numbers and what each individual should do in response to an active shooter are among the topics that will be discussed.
The sessions are part of National Preparedness Month events at Arkansas Tech.
