For just the second time during the Great American Conference era, Arkansas Tech University has won its regular season league baseball series against perennial power Southern Arkansas University.
The Wonder Boys (27-15 overall, 19-8 GAC) clinched the series by walloping the Muleriders 12-5 on Monday afternoon at Carl Baswell Field in Russellville.
Arkansas Tech took the first game of the series 7-6 on Sunday. SAU (24-15, 18-8) won the middle game 14-3 on Monday.
As a result of their 2-of-3 games series victory, the Wonder Boys are now in sole possession of second place in the GAC standings with two weekends remaining in the regular season.
Arkansas Tech will visit first-place University of Arkansas-Monticello (26-10, 20-5) for a three-game GAC series scheduled for Friday, April 19, and Saturday, April 20.
Before they make their way to Monticello, the Wonder Boys are booked to face Pittsburg State University for a non-conference game at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale on Tuesday, April 16. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
