Symphonic, Concert Bands Play April 25

Arkansas Tech University’s Symphonic Band and Concert Band will give a 7:30 p.m. performance at Witherspoon Auditorium, 407 West Q Street in Russellville, on Thursday, April 25.

Admission will be free and open to the public.

Dr. Jim Daughters and Dr. Daniel A. Belongia will serve as conductors. Student conductors will include Tina Christiansen, Connor Skelly, Meeka Smith and Brian Wyatt.

Pieces scheduled for performance on Thursday include “Revelry” by William Pitts, “Lux Aurumque” by Eric Whitacre, “Second Suite in F” by Gustav Holst, “Shine” by Julie Giroux, “Manhattan Beach” by John Philip Sousa, “Blue Mambo” by Michael Sweeney, “Tricycle” by Andrew Boysen Jr. and “Flight of the Piasa” by Robert Sheldon.

The ATU Symphonic Band is comprised primarily of music majors, but is open to students of all majors by audition. It offers two performances per semester.

The ATU Concert Band is a large ensemble dedicated to the non-music major population. The band performs two concerts per year. ATU Concert Band is open to all students in the university without a required audition.
