Arkansas Tech University will unveil its first large-scale, outdoor artwork during Homecoming 2019.
The sculpture is being created by Manami Ishimura, who worked at ATU as its artist in residence during the spring 2019 semester.
The ATU artist in residency program is possible through a grant from the Windgate Foundation.
Ishimura is a native of Tokyo, Japan. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Tama University in Japan and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
Wichita Falls Museum of Art, Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, Tama Art University Gallery and Ginza Seido Gallery are among the places where her art has been placed on exhibition.
