Arkansas Tech University earned its first victory of the 2019 volleyball season by defeating Newman University 25-19, 26-24, 22-25, 25-21 at the Missouri S&T Miner Invitational in Rolla, Mo., on Friday.
Allie Anderson paced the Golden Suns with 16 kills and 11 digs. Anyse Smith added 12 kills.
Arkansas Tech dropped matches against the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Missouri S&T and Auburn University-Montgomery during the season-opening classic.
The Golden Suns (1-3) will participate in the University of Nebraska-Kearney Classic on Friday, Sept. 13, and Saturday, Sept. 14.
