Arkansas Tech University will look to remain undefeated all-time in football games against Southern Nazarene University when the Great American Conference foes clash at the SNU Football Stadium in Bethany, Okla., on Saturday, Oct. 12.
Kickoff is planned for 1 p.m. Radio station KCJC 102.3 FM and www.arkansastechsports.com will provide live coverage.
The Wonder Boys are 6-0 against the Crimson Storm in a series that dates back to 2013. Arkansas Tech has outscored SNU 267-45 in their six previous meetings.
Improving to 7-0 all-time against the Crimson Storm would allow the Wonder Boys (0-5) to earn their first victory of the 2019 season.
“When we came in on Sunday, we talked about starting a new season,” said Kyle Shipp, ATU head coach. “We have six games remaining. The guys have been really positive. We’ve done some different things at the end of practice this week to help us learn how to think when we’re tired, how to tackle when we’re tired and how to make plays when we’re tired. Finishing…that’s what it comes back to.”
Southern Nazarene (1-4) earned its lone win of the season Sept. 28 when it defeated Southeastern Oklahoma State University 22-21 in Bethany.
SNU is 13-68 since joining the GAC in 2012. A victory on Saturday would give the Crimson Storm back-to-back home wins for the first time since November 2011.
“(Southern Nazarene) does some very different things offensively,” said Shipp. “It makes you have really good eyes and maintain good technique. If you mess your gap up, there’s a chance they can hit something big on you. Defensively, they play an odd front and have some good players who have played for three or four years. They aren’t big, but they are quick and fast.”
