Arkansas Tech University went 3-1 during a season-opening softball classic it hosted in Conroe, Texas.
The nationally 23rd-ranked Golden Suns defeated St. Mary’s University 6-5 and Texas A&M International University 7-6 on Friday.
Arkansas Tech began Saturday by topping Texas Woman’s University 2-1. Texas A&M University-Kingsville, which went 6-0 over the weekend, earned a 12-7 victory over the Golden Suns later in the day.
Makenzie Goins and Makenzie Addis were among Arkansas Tech’s top hitters in Texas. Goins was 6-for-14 with a run batted in and three runs scored. Addis went 4-for-10 with two home runs and five RBIs.
Paty Loredo and Paige Mendoza clubbed one home run apiece for the Golden Suns.
Arkansas Tech is scheduled to play against Rogers State University and Texas A&M University-Commerce on Friday, Feb. 7, in Commerce.
