College of Arts and Humanities Announces Awards

Four individuals from the Arkansas Tech University College of Arts and Humanities have been recognized for their service to students and their peers during the 2019-20 academic year.

Dr. Erin Clair and Dr. Julie Mikles-Schluterman are the 2020 ATU College of Arts and Humanities Dean’s Choice Award recipients.

Dr. Alexis Johnson was presented with the 2020 ATU College of Arts and Humanities Mentor Award for Distinguished Student Advising.

Belinda Hilliard was selected as winner of the 2020 ATU College of Arts and Humanities Staff Award for Distinguished Service.

“I must admit it has been an interesting three-and-a-half months in Russellville, but while it has been challenging, it has also made me deeply grateful for having such wonderful colleagues, staff and faculty, all of whom have risen to the challenges we have faced during this most unusual semester,” said Dr. Jeffrey Cass, who took office as dean of the ATU College of Arts and Humanities in January 2020.

Clair is associate professor of English and director of operations for the ATU College of Arts and Humanities. She has served on the ATU faculty since 2010.

Mikles-Schluterman joined the ATU faculty in 2007. She is professor of sociology and director of the ATU Center for Community Engagement and Academic Outreach.

Johnson holds the faculty rank of assistant professor of communication. She has been a member of the ATU faculty since 2015.

Hilliard is an administrative assistant II for the ATU Department of Music. She was recognized for five years of service to ATU in fall 2019.
