Louisiana State University Press has published a book written by Arkansas Tech University faculty member Dr. Guolin Yi.
The 248-page book, entitled “The Media and Sino-American Rapprochement, 1963-1972,” takes an in-depth look at specific aspects of the Cold War-era relationship between the United States and China.
According to a synopsis provided by LSU Press, Yi’s book “presents a thorough and comprehensive perspective on the role of the media in influencing domestic Chinese and American public opinion during a critical decade.”
Yi is assistant professor of history at Arkansas Tech. He joined the ATU faculty in 2017. Yi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sichuan International Studies University and Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Wayne State University.
An associate in research at the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard University, Yi serves on the board of directors for the Association of Chinese Professors of Social Sciences in the United States (ACPSS) and as the book review editor for World History Bulletin.
Dr. David Blanks, head of the ATU Department of History and Political Science, said that Yi’s achievement marks the 19th consecutive year that faculty members from the department have published one or more books.
