Arkansas Tech University is the statewide leader in helping students at public universities fund their educations according to LendEDU Best Colleges For Financial Aid in 2020.
LendEDU utilized Peterson’s undergraduate financial aid database and the National Center for Education Statistics’ Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) from 2018-19 to determine its rankings.
Need-based financial aid accounted for the majority of the institution’s overall score (60 percent), while non-need-based financial aid (34 percent) and international student financial aid (6 percent) made up the remainder of the score.
By that standard, Arkansas Tech ranks No. 1 among all public universities in Arkansas when it comes to providing access to student financial aid.
“Arkansas Tech’s mission is to empower students to achieve their goals, making our state, region and world a better place,” said Dr. Blake Bedsole, ATU vice president for enrollment management. “This honor recognizes the work of our financial aid office and the enrollment management division to help ensure Arkansas Tech students are equipped with the resources necessary to succeed.”
The study excluded higher education institutions if they were missing any aspect of the data that was required to complete the analysis. After removing schools with incomplete information, LendEDU was left with 312 colleges and universities.
LendEDU considerations when developing the rankings included the likelihood of students with financial need receiving need-based scholarships and grants, the percentage of need met for students with financial need, the average amount of non-need-based scholarships and grants given to each student and the average amount of financial aid given to each international student.
