Two Arkansas Tech University seniors recently enjoyed the trip of a lifetime over spring break.

Rachel Bond and Kristen Hardbarger left Fayetteville on Friday, March 16, and traveled several thousand miles to spend a week in Scotland and Ireland for their final spring break as Arkansas Tech students.

The two friends say they wanted to enjoy a great vacation before graduating from Arkansas Tech and beginning their careers.

While in Scotland, the two students visited a variety of historical sites including Edinburgh Castle, St. Andrews Cathedral and the University at St. Andrews.

Hardbarger says her favorite part of the trip was getting to see the North Sea while visiting St. Andrews.  She explains, “I was really excited about getting to see the water at St. Andrews.  I’ve never been to the ocean before, so this was a cool experience.”

On Wednesday of Spring Break, both Bond and Hardbarger boarded a plane to fly to Dublin, Ireland.  The students spent two days in Ireland, and while there they enjoyed  several Irish music groups and the chance to soak in the Irish culture.

Hardbarger says the trip was a great chance to see a variety of sights and learn more about a different part of the world.

Bond and Hardbarger boarded a flight Friday evening and returned to Fayetteville late Sunday morning.  They said their least favorite part was flying home because of the layovers.

After a week of travels, the two students were tired when classes began on Monday but have a wealth of memories they’ll keep for a lifetime.
