The Arkansas Tech University Symphonic Band and the ATU Concert Band will present a performance entitled “Through a Child’s Eyes” on Thursday, March 3, at Witherspoon Auditorium.
The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission will be free and open to the public.
The ATU Symphonic Band will play “Sun Dance” by Frank Ticheli, “Children’s March: Over the Hills and Far Away” by Percy Grainger, “Scenes from The Louvre” by Norman Dello Joio, “Goodnight Moon” by Eric Whitacre and “Firefly” by Ryan George.
Pieces on the ATU Concert Band’s portion of the program include “The Ringmaster” by James Burden, “Ancient Voices” by Michael Sweeney and “Epic Venture” by Tyler Grant.
Dr. Daniel A. Belongia, ATU professor of music and director of bands, and Dr. Jonathan Nash, ATU assistant professor of music and associate director of bands, will serve as conductors.
ATU students Isaac Deaver of Fort Smith and Piper Turner of Van Buren will appear as student conductors.
Dr. Barbara Clements, ATU associate professor of music, will lend her vocal talents to the concert.
The ATU Symphonic Band is comprised primarily of music majors, but is open to students of all majors by audition.
The ATU Concert Band is a large ensemble dedicated to the non-music major population. ATU Concert Band is open to all students in the university without a required audition.
