Paula Gonzalez Prado and Marquis Vasquez were named 2022 Arkansas Tech University Homecoming queen and king during a pre-game ceremony at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field in Russellville on Saturday, Oct. 15.
Gonzalez, a 21-year old senior from Maracaibo, Venezuela, and Vasquez, a 20-year old junior from Conway, were elected by their fellow ATU students through online voting.
A member of the ATU Student Government Association executive board, Gonzalez is also active in Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, the Hispanic Student Organization, Order of Omega, ATU Sluggers, the ATU Chemistry Club and ATU Women in STEM. She works as a tour guide in the ATU Office of Admissions and has served as a new student orientation leader for two years.
Gonzalez is majoring in nuclear medicine technology. She plans on beginning her career in the medical field, but she has an interest in gaining a Master of Business Administration degree in digital marketing and seeking out a path that would allow her to combine her interests in science and creative design.
Gonzalez’s parents are Karina Prado and Roney Gonzalez. She was nominated for Homecoming court by ATU Student Government Association.
Vasquez is president of ATU Student Government Association. He is also fraternity education officer for Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and a participant in the ATU choral music program.
After his graduation from ATU, Vasquez plans to further his education with a master’s degree in music composition. He hopes to teach music at the K-12 and collegiate levels.
Vasquez’s mother is Quincy Jackson. He was nominated for Homecoming court by Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
Gonzalez and Vasquez were joined on the 2022 ATU Homecoming court by senior Iris Alvarado of Russellville, junior Mason Blaty of Bella Vista, junior Jace Bridges of Fayetteville, senior Mackinzie Callahan of Waldron, senior Damara Hale of Fayetteville, senior Mark Kuykendall of Fort Smith, senior Olivia Rowe of Paragould and senior Tandem Young of Dover.
