Arkansas Tech University President Dr. Robin E. Bowen has declared an inclement winter weather day with no in-person or remote classes for ATU students and faculty and no non-essential in-person or remote work for ATU staff at the Russellville and Ozark campuses on Wednesday, Jan. 25.
In addition, all classes beginning 5 p.m. or later on Tuesday, Jan. 24, are cancelled on the Russellville and Ozark campuses.
“I understand some operations must continue,” said Bowen, “and I express sincere appreciation to the individuals who will carry out those tasks and ensure our buildings are warm, our residential students are safe and fed, our campuses are secure and our technology resources remain available.”
The forecast calls for warming temperatures during the day on Wednesday, Jan. 25, so it is anticipated ATU will return to normal operations on Thursday, Jan. 26.
“I believe in the restorative power of an old-fashioned snow day,” said Bowen. “Inclement winter weather provides an ideal opportunity for us to pause and invest a day in our mental health. Many of our faculty and staff members will also be actively engaged in assisting with an alternative methods of instruction day for the K-12 students in their homes. I encourage each member of the ATU community to remain safe and do something that makes them happy on Wednesday.”
