Arkansas Tech University alumnus James Shepherd was separated from his ATU class ring for decades.
Now that it’s back home, he would like to express appreciation to the person who helped make the reunion possible.
Shepherd graduated from Arkansas Tech in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business. He purchased a class ring, but sometime in the years that followed he lost it.
Fast forward approximately four decades, and one day a package arrived at Shepherd’s home in Missouri from the ATU Office of Alumni Relations. Someone had found his class ring, and not knowing the owner, they turned it in at the ATU Alumni House in Russellville. Personnel in the ATU Office of Alumni Relations inspected the ring, determined that it belonged to Shepherd and mailed it to him.
“I would love to know who found it, where they found it and who took the time and effort to turn it in so that I can thank them personally,” said Shepherd. “I’m guessing it has been missing between 35 and 40 years. It’s very exciting to get it back.”
Anyone with information about the return of the ring is invited to call (479) 968-0242 or send e-mail to alumni@atu.edu.
