Arkansas Tech University graduate and Obama Foundation Scholar DeKevious M. Wilson will speak at ATU on Wednesday, Sept. 20.
His remarks will begin at 6 p.m. in Doc Bryan Student Services Center Lecture Hall, 1605 Coliseum Drive in Russellville. Admission will be free and open to the public.
A native of West Helena, Wilson earned a Master of Science degree in college student personnel from Arkansas Tech in 2013.
He served as coordinator of first-year experience and living and learning initiatives at Philander Smith University in Little Rock before becoming a counselor for the South Side of Chicago’s Youth Guidance’s Becoming A Man (BAM), a program that facilitates academic success and seeks to reduce violence among boys and young men of color.
Wilson has since been promoted to regional manager for the BAM program. He develops the policies that assist the young men under his organization’s influence.
A 2023 graduate of the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago, Wilson gives back to his home state by serving as assistant director of staff for Arkansas Boys State.
