Mike Bogue will be the featured speaker for the November 2023 installment of the Arkansas Tech University Second Monday Author Series.
Bogue will speak beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13, in Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center room 300B. Admission will be free and open to the public.
The talk will focus on Bogue’s 2023 book “Watching the World Die: Nuclear Threat Films of the 1980s.” Bogue wrote about 121 films that are part of that sub-genre. According to information released by the book’s publisher, McFarland Books, the 269-page tome includes “production details, chapter notes and critical commentaries” related to those movies.

Bogue has written for Scary Monsters Magazine, G-FAN, Movie Milestones, The Lost Films Fanzine, Castle of Frankenstein and Mad Scientist. His previous books include “Atomic Drive-In” and “Apocalypse Then: American and Japanese Atomic Cinema, 1951-1967.”
From 2011 until his retirement in 2021, Bogue worked as student success coordinator at ATU-Ozark Campus, where his tasks included early warning, the mentoring program and tutoring. Previously, he worked in the ATU Division of Student Affairs on the ATU campus in Russellville, where he managed the Bridge to Excellence mentoring program and the tutoring center.
