ATU LULAC Scholarship Recipients Honored

The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Council 772 recognized Arkansas Tech University students who received scholarship assistance through its organization in 2023-24 during a banquet at ATU’s Doc Bryan Student Services Center in November.

The 12 ATU students honored during the banquet were Marcos Alvarez of Little Rock, Andrea Arenales Sanchez of Little Rock, Wilson Escobar of Russellville, Alexandra Flores-Lemus of Russellville, Justin Fuentes of Russellville, Sofia Guerrero of Hot Springs, Danna Gutierrez Marrufo of Russellville, Roxana Loaeza of Russellville, Jose Navarrete of Danville, Carlos Reta of Little Rock, Aileen Rivera of Monticello and Keilly Andraca-Lopez of Russellville.

According to its website, LULAC “advances the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, housing, health and civil rights of Hispanic Americans through community-based programs operating at more than 1,000 LULAC councils nationwide.”

Arkansas Tech and LULAC entered into a memorandum of understanding in October 2016 that provides enhanced educational opportunities for Hispanic Americans.

ATU is recognized as a LULAC Latino Destination Campus due to its efforts to facilitate student access and success for individuals of Hispanic descent.

Applications for the scholarships must be received by March 31 of each year.
