Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center will host an evening entitled “Meet the Authors” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 13.

The event will take place in room 300 of Pendergraft Library and Technology Center, 305 West Q Street on the ATU campus in Russellville. Admission will be free and open to the public.

Authors Chuck Campbell, Jennette Gahlot and Travis Simpson will be the speakers.

Luke Heffley, special projects coordinator for Pendergraft Library, said the March 13 presentation is the beginning of a re-brand for the library’s monthly author series.

“The RPL Author Series, formerly known as the Second Monday Author Series, is as strong as ever,” said Heffley. “With the name change the program will be allowed to grow and as such, able to be on different days of the month.”

Campbell is a retired Russellville High School environmental science teacher. His guide, “Arkansaw High Country Route Guidebook” was written for mountain biking and outdoor enthusiasts. He graduated from ATU in 1987 with a degree in biology. He is a runner, backpacker, climber and cyclist.

Gahlot grew up in rural Arkansas. She graduated from ATU with a degree in journalism. She has written multiple books including the “Alias Pandemonium” historical fiction series and her newest work, “Self-Reflective Sports Journals,” a self-guided journal aimed at youth through high school to help players watch their growth and record memories at the same time.

Simpson, author of “Strong Like You,” is an award-winning journalist and editor of the Russellville newspaper, The Courier. Simpson spent nearly 10 years covering high school and collegiate sports before taking over as editor. During that time, he was also the paper’s primary crime reporter. Many of his stories have been picked up by the Associated Press, and his semi-regular slice-of-life column has been published nationally. “Strong Like You” is his debut novel.
