The Arkansas Tech University Concert Band and the ATU Symphonic Band will present a concert entitled “Scenes” on Thursday, April 25.
The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Witherspoon Auditorium, 407 West Q Street in Russellville. Admission will be free and open to the public.
Three student conductors will lead the ATU Concert Band, which is a large ensemble dedicated to the non-music major population. The band performs two concerts per year. ATU Concert Band is open to all students in the university without a required audition.
The ATU Concert Band performance will begin with its rendition of “Blue Comet” by Jorge L. Vargas. Caleb Hopkins will conduct. “Epic Venture” by Tyler S. Grant and “Afterburn: Relaunch” by Randall D. Standridge will conclude the ATU Concert Band’s portion of the show. Dylan Owen will appear as conductor on “Epic Venture,” while Alex Louden will conduct on the Standridge piece.
The ATU Symphonic Band will perform “In This Broad Earth” by Steven Bryant, “A Hymn for the Lost and the Living” by Eric Ewazen, “First Suite in E-Flat” by Gustav Holst and “Blue Shades” by Frank Ticheli.
Dr. Jon Nash, ATU assistant professor of music and associate director of bands, conducts the ATU Symphonic Band. It is comprised primarily of music majors, but is open to students of all majors by audition. It offers two performances per semester.
