ATU Theatre and Film Presents “Ripcord” Nov. 1-3

“Ripcord,” a comedy about the misadventures of two nursing home roommates, is the fall 2024 production by the Arkansas Tech University theatre and film program.

Written by David Lindsay-Abaire, “Ripcord” will be performed at ATU’s Techionery Theatre, 1502 N. El Paso Ave. in Russellville, at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3.

“Ripcord” stars professional actresses Natalie Canerday and Holly Roth Gale. Supporting roles and crew positions are filled by ATU students.

Frances Roberson, assistant professor of theatre and film and director of theatre at ATU, is serving as director for the Arkansas Tech production of “Ripcord.”

“This production provides an invaluable opportunity for our students to learn from professionals in a practical environment,” said Roberson. “This is sure to be an amazing opportunity for our students and our audiences alike.”

A native of Russellville, Canerday is known for her roles in the feature films Sling Blade (1996), October Sky (1999) and One False Move (1991). She has also performed in numerous plays.

Gale is a retired ATU faculty member and has performed internationally as both a singer and an actress. Her husband and fellow former ATU faculty member, John Gale, is serving as technical director for “Ripcord.”

Additional cast members include Zach Baldwin, Laken Rudelis, Tripp Wilson, Drake Huett, Charlie Randall, Lamar Anderson, Rue Recinos, Marcus Giles, Harley Furr, Gabe Horn, Titus Foster, Lane Anderson, Kayly Polston, Courtney Mercier and Alan Thao.

Anderson, Recinos, Thao, Haley Sorg, Oliver Carey, Oli Harris, Melanie Jewell, Lilian Bolin, Addison Reagan-Smith, Lexi Milholen, David Palos, Addison Reagan-Smith, Kami Newman, Taylor Wright, Braelyn Roden and Cindy Reynolds are working on the “Ripcord” crew.
