ATU Welcomes Librarians to Campus for Summit

Future Ready Librarians Summit at ATU 10-19-2024

More than 60 school librarians registered for the Future Ready Librarians Summit at Arkansas Tech University’s Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center on Saturday, Oct. 19.

“The Future Ready Librarians Summit is a professional learning event designed to empower school librarians as catalysts for change,” said Ashley Cooksey, assistant professor in the ATU Department of Teaching and Educational Leadership and director of ATU’s instructional technology school library media program. “The one-day session included a deep dive into the Future Ready Librarian framework, effective communication, collaboration techniques and leadership strategies tailored to empower school librarians in their diverse learning communities.”

Future Ready Librarians is a division of All4Ed, a national non-profit advocacy organization committed to expanding equitable educational opportunities for students of color, students from low-income families and other marginalized groups.

The summit was led by Shannon Miller, Future Ready Librarians leader, and Lia Dossin, All4Ed/Future Ready director of programs and outreach.

It was presented by the Arkansas Association of Instructional Media and ATU’s instructional technology school library media program.
