ATU-Ozark to Host Veterans Day Program Nov. 11

Brig. Gen. Michael Henderson of the Arkansas National Guard will be the keynote speaker for “A Salute to Our Veterans” at Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus on Monday, Nov. 11.

Henderson will speak at 11 a.m. in the ATU-Ozark Student Services Conference Center, 1700 Helberg Lane in Ozark. Admission will be open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

A recipient of the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Henderson began his military career in 1993. He started as a combat engineer before graduating from Officer Candidate School and becoming a second lieutenant in 1996.

Henderson went on to serve as platoon leader, battalion administrative officer, battalion personnel officer, brigade training officer, brigade administrative officer, brigade executive officer, battalion commander, operations officer, deputy chief of staff for operations, Arkansas Army National Guard chief of staff and commander of the 233rd Regional Training Institute.

He is currently director of joint staff at the Arkansas Joint Force Headquarters in North Little Rock.
