Per guidelines approved by the Arkansas Tech Board of Trustees on Oct. 21, 2010, nominations for the Tech Alumni Board are forwarded to a five-person selection committee.
The selection committee in turn presents no more than eight names for consideration to the vice president for development at Arkansas Tech. The vice president for development reviews the recommendations and forwards them to the university president, who makes recommendations to the Arkansas Tech Board of Trustees. At that point, it is the responsibility of the Tech Board of Trustees to appoint eight members to the Arkansas Tech Alumni Association Board of Directors each year.
The Tech Alumni Board consists of 25 non-compensated members. Twenty-four of those members represent the Russellville campus, while one representative is an alumnus or alumna of Arkansas Tech-Ozark Campus. The alumni board is comprised of members representing various class years, majors, professions and geographic areas. Tech Alumni Board members are selected based on demonstrated involvement, support and commitment to the Tech Alumni Association and or Arkansas Tech University. Appointed alumni board members may serve two consecutive three-year terms. The Arkansas Tech Alumni Association Board of Directors has two officers: a president and a president-elect. Current alumni board members make nominations for and select a president-elect each year. Major responsibilities for alumni board members include supporting the mission of the Tech Alumni Association and the university, aiding in the cultivation of private donations to the university and attending between three and four meetings per year.
