Arkansas Tech University has received an Arkansas Department of Education grant to fund the 2025-26 ATU English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Institute.

The grant will cover the full cost of tuition, materials and one attempt at the Praxis 5362 examination for up to 50 qualified K-12 teachers in Arkansas. Participants will be responsible for a $40 application fee. Costs associated with lodging and food for the in-person training days will be covered by the ATU ESOL Institute.

The in-person portion of the program will take place June 9-14, 2025, on the ATU campus in Russellville. There will be four online training sessions during the 2025-26 academic year.

Successful completion of the ten-day (80 hours) training and assignments via four online courses will earn participants 12 graduate hours of credit and (ESL) licensure endorsement.

All applications received by the priority deadline of April 15, 2025, will be considered first. Applications received after that date will be considered on a first come, first served basis and/or placed on a waiting list.
