Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette by honoring the best NCAA Division II football players each season. Hansen, who published the periodical for three decades, passed away in 2010. Shade punted 57 times for 2,359 yards during the 2013 football season. His 41.4 yards per punt average ranked second in the Great American Conference. It was the highest single-season punting average by a Wonder Boy since Michael Podobnik averaged 44 yards per punt on his way to All-America honors in 2008. Fourteen of Shade’s punts were downed inside the opponent’s 20-yard line, and he had seven punts of 50 yards or longer. His longest punt of the season was a 66-yard boot. The Wonder Boys completed the 2013 season with a 5-6 overall record and a 5-5 mark in the GAC under first-year head coach Raymond Monica. ]]>
