Arkansas Tech University will play an 11-game regular season football schedule — including seven home games — in 2012.
Steve Mullins, director of athletics and head football coach at Arkansas Tech, released the schedule on Tuesday, June 19.

The seven regular season home games — most for the Wonder Boys since 1971 — means that Arkansas Tech will have many opportunities to enjoy the new synthetic playing surface that is being installed at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field this summer.
“Due to the nature of our schedule a year ago, we thought it was important for us to play as many games at home as we could and we’re fortunate that it worked out,” said Mullins in a news release from the Arkansas Tech Department of Athletics. “We will be able to play seven games this year on our new turf field at Thone Stadium. Our players are really excited about it. The new turf is the last piece of the puzzle in all of the renovations that have been done to Thone Stadium the past four years.”
The Wonder Boys will return 35 lettermen — including 11 starters — from their 2011 squad.
The 2012 season will mark Mullins’ 16th campaign as Arkansas Tech head football coach. He holds the school record for victories by a head football coach (91) and he has led the Wonder Boys to three NCAA Division II Playoffs appearances (1999, 2004 and 2009).
Admission to all regular season home football games is free for students, faculty and staff with a valid Arkansas Tech identification card.
