Fourteen Arkansas Tech University students and Wyatt Tise, ATU visiting lecturer in Japanese, volunteered at the Sakura Matsuri event hosted at the Plantation Agriculture Museum in Scott on March 22.

A grove of Sakura trees honoring the Japanese American families that have resided in Scott was dedicated during the event. Sakura Matsuri translates to cherry blossom festival in English.

The March 22 event also included games, crafts, food trucks, vendors, martial arts demonstrations and taiko drum performances.
