Arkansas Tech University students and faculty presented their research on Friday, April 11, at the 2025 Arkansas Space Grant Consortium Symposium at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute on Petit Jean Mountain.
Below are the titles of the presentations provided by ATU students and faculty at the consortium as well as the names of the ATU representatives responsible for the research.
- “Performance of Hybrid PV-TEG and PV-PCM Solar Systems Compared to Conventional PV Systems.” Presented by Joseph Dockery, Brock Gottsponer, Israel Niebla and Thomas Dodds. Faculty mentors: Dr. Zahra Zamanipour and Dr. Seyed Ehsan Hosseini.
- “Constructing a Dipole Antenna to Detect Ionosphere Fluctuations with NASA’s Radio JOVE Project.” Presented by Zachary Jimerson. Faculty mentor: Dr. Matthew Hankins.
- “Design of a Teleoperable Tendon-Driven Robotic Hand.” Presented by Zachary Giese, Avery Mahan, Joseph Gober, Samuel Grisham, Aspen White and Brayden May. Faculty mentors: Dr. Zahra Zamanipour and Dr. Mohammad Amjadi.
- “Investigating the Importance of Machine Learning for Anomaly Detection in Hydrogen Fuel Cells.” Presented by Benjamin Leon, Dillon Wood and Ethan Mashburn. Faculty mentors: Dr. Afsana Ahamed and Dr. Seyed Ehsan Hosseini.
In addition to presenting their research, the ATU delegation had the opportunity to listen to keynote speaker Johannes Starks, executive director of BEST Robotics Inc., and student keynote speaker Jack Seabaugh, who earned NASA internships at Marshall Space Flight Center and Goddard Space Flight Center.
